Horace - semi-staged performace in French

17 Jan 2019 19:30

A semi-staged performance in the original French, with music, images, titles and text, adapted and directed by Patrick Boyde.

The play is an hour-long condensation of Corneille’s Tale of Two Cities which dramatises the tumultuous events of the fateful day when the hawks of Rome finally overpowered the doves of Alba. It will concentrate on the feelings and words of four passionate and highly articulate people whose lives are convulsed by the actions of a noble-minded but traumatised war-hero, Horatius, who finds it hard to reconcile his love for wife, sister and friend with his pursuit of reputation, honour and patriotic duty.

Thursday 17 January 2019, 7.30pm, Palmerston Room. Free admission.
